Perinatal SUD Legal-Scientific Resource Hub

Pregnancy Justice, a nonprofit that defends and advances the rights of pregnant people in the US, will collaborate with Doing Right by Birth to develop a national resource hub with up-to-date, peer-reviewed literature on substance use disorder and maternal health. The resources, which will include a legal-medical glossary and policy and evidence briefs, are designed to inform defense attorneys, legal aid staff, judges, prosecutors, and journalists about medical and public health research related to perinatal substance use and advance evidence-based practices. The two organizations will also host webinars to increase public awareness of the health impacts of punitive responses to perinatal substance use and bridge gaps between the medical and legal fields.
