Walking in Strength: Phase II
Building on a previous FORE grant, Project Venture, formerly National Indian Youth Leadership Development Project, will extend the reach of its culturally-grounded experiential learning and peer mentorship program to four schools on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota and continue to bring educators, public safety departments, housing agencies, health care providers, and community-based organizations together to align and sustain prevention efforts on the reservation. In partnership with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Center for Indigenous Health’s Great Plains Hub, Project Venture will also evaluate the effectiveness of its Walking in Strength initiative, a multifaceted effort to foster resiliency and prevent substance use among adolescents on the reservation.
