Addressing the Opioid Crisis through Street Outreach Capacity Building

Avivo, a vocational rehabilitation services provider in Minneapolis, Minnesota, offers housing, substance use and mental health services, career education, and employment services for residents of the Twin Cities and St. Cloud metro areas. The organization also has an outreach team that addresses the opioid crisis among people who are unsheltered Native Americans, who are seven times more likely to die from a drug overdose than white people and 25 times more likely to experience homelessness. Avivo will hire an additional street outreach navigator, who will assist individuals with obtaining housing, referrals to wraparound supports, and access to treatment services.
