Respite Care for Individuals Waiting to Transition to Residential Care Who Are at High Risk for Overdose

My Father’s House Nashville (MFHN), in Nashville, TN, provides comprehensive support for fathers making a transition from justice institutions or from homelessness. In this project, MFHN will build on its relationship with the Elam Mental Health Center (EMHC) at Meharry Medical College, a historically black academic medical center, to offer respite care for people with a substance use disorder who are waiting for a treatment bed at EMHC or another facility. Without this transitional support, these men are at risk of drug overdose. With FORE’s funding, MFHN aims to provide services to 240 men per year. Evidence of the program’s impact will be used to garner funding from local government and other sources.
